Seyi Tinubu Breaks Silence on VDM vs. King Mitchy Feud and Death Rumours

Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has responded to allegations linking him to the heated social media clash between influencers Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan/VDM) and Michelle Mukoro (King Mitchy).

In a statement on his Instagram story, the President's son declared that "nobody can bully" him and that he would not "dignify fiction with panic." His comments come amid an ongoing public feud between VDM and King Mitchy, both of whom are known for their philanthropic work.

The tension escalated significantly on Saturday morning when a statement, allegedly from King Mitchy’s management, was posted on her social media page claiming her life was in danger.

The Origin of the Conflict

The friction began when King Mitchy, who is in her 20s, shared a project involving the renovation of a dilapidated school in Delta State. She claimed to have completed the work in just six days, attributing the success to donations from Seyi Tinubu. In a celebratory video, she suggested the project proved that meaningful change can happen quickly if intentions are genuine.

These comments were perceived as a "shade" by some, triggering the conflict. In one post, she wrote: "I have never seen a person with integrity explain every day that they have integrity. I did this in six days to show you how easy it is if you truly want to do something."

VDM’s Allegations

While she did not mention names, the post triggered a sharp response from VeryDarkMan. He accused her of being a "political pawn" used to "launder the image" of the President Bola Tinubu administration. In a video, VDM claimed her intervention in the education sector was politically motivated. He also tagged Seyi Tinubu in a post, claiming the current administration has failed the education sector and suggesting an improper relationship or secret arrangement led to the sponsorship of Mitchy’s projects.

Seyi Tinubu’s Clarification

To clear the air, Mr. Tinubu explained that he has only met King Mitchy once. He stated that his financial support for her NGO activities is consistent with his regular support for young Nigerians and organizations working to empower the public, which is not a crime. He expressed frustration that his name is being used to settle scores in a fight he did not start.

"For reasons best known to him, VDM appears to be looking for a way to trigger me—an opportunity to attack and attempt to harm my reputation—and he has seized this situation to do so. I will not accept that," Tinubu stated. "If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime... Repeating falsehoods loudly does not change them into the truth."

Reports of Death and Hospital Reaction

The situation took a dark turn when Nigerians woke up to a notice on Mitchy’s page alleging she had passed away. The statement, attributed to her management, read: "We are deeply heartbroken to share that our beloved Michelle has passed on. Despite the efforts of the medical team here in Abuja, we were told her condition was critical and sadly they could not revive her." The post urged anyone near Prime Care Hospital in Abuja to help, claiming her mother had fainted in Lagos.

However, the management of Prime Care Hospital quickly debunked the report as fake news. In a statement shared with BBC News Pidgin, the hospital clarified that King Mitchy was not their patient and did not die at their facility. They stated they are working with authorities to investigate the source of the misinformation and will take legal action against those responsible. Neither King Mitchy nor her management has since clarified the situation.

Who is King Mitchy?

According to her Instagram profile, Michelle Mitchel is an award-winning philanthropist and brand influencer. She has built a following by documenting school renovations, assisting struggling families, and hosting livestream giveaways. She often publicly acknowledges Seyi Tinubu and other prominent Nigerians for supporting her humanitarian work.

This is not the first time a popular content creator has made alarming claims online. In December 2025, TikToker Peller threatened self-harm during a livestream before being arrested by the police. Notably, attempted suicide remains a criminal offense in Nigeria.
